What is preventing the isle of Wight from having a similar governing status as the isle of Man?

    The Vikings neglected to invade the Isle of Wight about a thousand years ago and set up a parliament. That is the main problem. They do have quite a crooked local council though, and by all accounts it acts as if it is a law unto itself.
