Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1967 and trained at Kingston and Central Saint Martins, Abigail worked as a successful illustrator prior to turning professional. She works in acrylics, watercolours, pastels and oils in a painterly style revelling a close observation and understanding of nature. Whether inspired by travels to exotic locations like China and India or closer to home, Abigail’s lively landscapes and interiors evoke a remarkable sense of place; her eye for a strongly-lit image ensures that a feeling of light and atmosphere runs throughout her work. Figures are described in a direct and economical way, vividly capturing timeless quality of children playing, people enjoying themselves on holiday or going about their daily business. Abigail has had extensive solo and mixed exhibitions and enjoyed some coverage from the BBC. She is the author of ‘Watercolour 1,2,3’ published by Carlton, 2003 and has contributed to numerous books and magazines on painting and drawing. Her paintings are included in many private collections worldwide.
