Okay, it is my grandma’s birthday and I am trying to get from Aberdeen to the Isle of Wight . Flights to Gatwick are so much cheaper than flying to Southampton, but is there a cheap way to get from Gatwick Airport to Southampton ferry terminal? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Or any ideas which I havn’t thought of already?

Thank you

  1. You would be better going from Gatwick Airport to Portsmouth Harbour Station where you can then get the Wightlink catamaran ferry to Ryde. Return train fares are from £15.00p and depend on the times of the day you will be travelling. http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/en/s/planjourney/query http://www.wightlink.co.uk/timetables/portsmouth---ryde.aspx From Ryde you can get a bus to any of the other towns on the Island either direct or via Newport. If your Gran happens to live in the Sandown/Shanklin area you can get the train from Ryde.

You can get a train from Gatwick Airport to Southampton or Portsmouth and then get the ferry. Have a look at http://www.thetraineline.com
