  1. Southsea is a seaside resort that has a long beach, a fairground and leisure park. On hot days and warm evenings you can enjoy basking on the beach or just running along the seafront. There is a hovercraft that goes to the Isle of Wight (10 minutes) if you want a day out at a weekend. Southsea is a fairly gentle town that has a good theatre and some old pubs, but not much else in the form of nightclubs or bars. The city of Portsmouth is right next door to Southsea. They are actually joined so closely that you may not see the difference. Portsmouth has a range of theatres, cinemas, clubs, bars and all sorts of evening entertainments. It has a large university so there are thousands of students who have to be entertained. Pretty well everything you want is somewhere in Portsmouth. Portsmouth is also the home of the Royal Navy and there is a large naval museum at the Historic Dockyard, and also HMS Victory. To the east of Southsea is Hayling Island. There is a ferry which you can use, or just catch a bus (it's a long way by bus). Hayling Island is a place to go for a day when you want to 'chill out'. To the west of Portsmouth is the town of Gosport. There is a ferry across the harbour to get there. In Gosport town centre there is a very good Thai restaurant called Natee Tip. You will not be bored. Enjoy!
