I’m planning on going to Bestival (Isle of Wight) and wondering how much everything will cost me, including travel costs ( i live in Dorset the south West of England ), food and drink ( is it expensive there? ) and any other costs i will need? Thank you.

  1. You didn't say how you were planning to travel there? Car, Coach & Ferry etc? As for other costs: Food and drink are always expensive at festivals, no matter how much the organisers insist that they aren't. Expect to pay £5 - £7 for a jacket potato and around £4 for a beer. BUT, Bestival does not restrict you from bringing your own food and drink for consumption in the campsite so bring as much of that as you can carry. Just remember that no glass is allowed on site. Don't forget to bring water! Camping costs: You need a tent and a sleeping bag at an absolute minimum. A cheap 2 person tent from argos and a sleeping bag can be bought together for around £30. Optional extras included a blow-up mattress (£15), pump for blow up mattress (£7), LED torches (£10), folding chair (£5), folding table (£15-£20), gazebo for a dry seating area (£25) and a camping stove (£15). If you are taking a car and you have disposable income, I recommend investing in some of these extras. It's really nice to have a comfortable camp site. Don't forget toiletries like antibacterial hand spray, wet wipes and toilet roll. Trust me on those! Bestival will also have some sort of fair so if that appeals to you then expect to pay £2 for each ride. You may also pay £2 to charge your phone or to use solar showers. Oh and fancy dress. Don't forget to buy some flowers, fairy wings or animal costumes before you go or once you get there. You need to keep in the spirit of things.
