  1. Well, depending on what sort of seaview you want; Shanklin, Sandown, & Ventnor are the main resorts, Freshwater and Totland are also considered to be resorts but are much quieter, and sea views are just that; views of the sea. On the other hand, Yarmouth, Cowes, Ryde, Bembridge are working harbours as well as being resorts, so a view of the sea here will be more interesting. I think the best thing to do would be to research the offiial Isle of WIGHT (no 'R') website for accommodation that might suit you. We now live in Cyprus, but holidayed many times on The Isle Of Wight, and always chose holidays in hotels on Tennyson Downs in Shanklin. Shanklin was our favourite resort, with beautiful beaches and a pretty old village. Sandown is bustling, and doesn't have the charm of Shanklin. Ventnor is a lovely plae, but the beach is red shale and can be quite sharp! Bembridge is worth a visit if only to have a wander along to look at the houseboats. Cowes, Ryde and Yarmouth are where the ferries from the mainland arrive, but have a charm of their own, with Marinas, and busy working harbours, and are all worth a visit. Freshwater Bay and Totland Bay are the places to go if you really want to get away from it all and want peace and quiet....and finally, Alum Bay if only to look at he different coloured sands. Thank you for posting his question, it has evoked some very fond memories of family holidays.

I suggest you look at hotels in the coastal resorts and ask them if they have sea views:

Shanklin, Ventnor, Sandown, Freshwater etc give views out to sea.

Ryde and Cowes etc give views towards the Solent.
