Hi, how to get from London Paddington to Isle of Wight? Is it a nice place for a romantic getaway?

Im not sure how to get there, but i heard it was a very nice place and a getaway.
Try Ryde
Ferry. or swim it.
Bits are ok but it’s a bit of a retirement home. Best way is ether the ferry or hovercraft from Portsmouth
take a train to portsmouth or southampton and get the ferry
You need to go from Waterloo to Portsmouth then get the ferry which is at the end of the station.
Or Waterloo to Southampton and get the ferry from there.
Portsmouth Ferry goes to Ryde and the southampton ferry goes to cowes.
You need to get the train to Southampton & then get on a ferry to the IOW. I”s quite nice, but wouldnt go as far as saying its romantic, think you might be better off getting on the Eurostar to Paris.

It’s lovely! There’s loads to do even though it’s a small island. It does have a reputation as being a holiday destination for oldies, but I’m 26 and I loved it.
Best way is to get the train to Portsmouth and go over as a foot passenger on Wightlink, which is pretty cheap. Or if you have a car, drive down to Portsmouth or Southampton and you can take the car over for about £30-50
I would recommend staying in Shanklink or Ventnor.
Yes it is a beautiful Island, my cousin used to live there in Ventnor.
The usual way is to travel by the isle of Wight ferry or hovercraft.

Get a train to Waterloo then to Portsmouth and stay there IOW is full of window lickers,Try the Edge of the Wedge nice bar and club,loads of history, great people Arnold Schwarzenegger lived there for a while(Portsmouth)
my mum lives right opposit the Isle of White and yes it is a lovely place, however, I would go when the weather was a little bit warmer….Its an island all on its own, and can get a little chilli stuck of the South coast like it is.
Forget going to Portsmouth. Take a direct train from Waterloo to Southampton Central, you can either get a taxi from outside the station down to the high speed hover craft, or you can jump on a free bus from the train station, takes about 8 mins to the Ferry. Or you can take your car and go on the bigger Red Funnel Ferry, takes about an hour. Enjoy.
I would suggest you make your crossing point Portsmouth as the train from waterloo connects directly with the fast passenger ferry. As for Romantic Settings, there are several spots but all need some Island Travel. Take a train to Shanklin and find a hotel in Shanklin Old Village. It’s very old-world lots of thatched cottages and plenty of places to eat at all prices. It’s a short walk to the beach.
I could suggest more but it depends on your budget.
If you are staying for a while there are plenty of buses to all parts of the Island.
Although furthest to travel to, The Farringford Hotel in Freshwater was home to Tennyson.

get yourself over to Elstree aerodrome from where you can fly to Sandown airport on the south coast of the island. There are lots of lovely places on the Isle of Wight for a romantic getaway, head for Freshwater or Yarmouth………….
You need Waterloo station in London, NOT Paddington.
Depending on which part of the Isle of Wight you require, trains ferries run as follows:
1. London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour by train then ferry to Ryde
2. London Waterloo to Lymington Pier via Brockenhurst by train then ferry to Yarmouth
3. London Waterloo to Southampton Central by train. Then free bus to Southampton ferry terminal and ferry to West Cowes.
In all 3 cases through tickets are available from London Waterloo covering the entire journey and if you have a railcard
– Network Card, Young Persons Railcard etc, the usual discounts will apply.
Additionally there is a local railway line on the Isle of Wight linking the Ryde ferry terminal with Ryde, Sandown and Shanklin; there are regular bus services too linking all the towns and villages on the island.
The island has beautiful coastal scenery and walks and is ideal for a quiet romantic break. Yarmouth in my view is the most pleasant and attractive of the various small towns.
