can anyone recomend anywhere?

I went to Devon last year and while people were dying from the heat in Derbys, where I’m from, I was stuck in the middle of nowhere in a week of thunderstorms!

i would prefere a seaside destination, or atleast close enough to go to the beach to show my little boy the sand for the fiorst time!

  1. I know of a little retreat in the Isle of White, Kite Hill Farm, in Wooton. (Close to Ryde) This is absolutely fabulous as there is no club house, bar etc, so you have very few idiots. Everything you need is on site, i.e. Toilets/Showers and a Laundry Room with Driers. There is a small adventure playground for kids but nothing too much. Last year we paid around £6 per head per night, and had a great time walking everywhere (we don't drive). It is close enough to Ryde to walk with a lovely family pub at Fishbourne next to the car ferry port, that does some excellent home cooked food. The beach in Ryde is bloody massive too. You can also get a Day Rover and tour the island by bus, catching some breath taking views of Needle Point is simply a must. Yarmouth is a beautiful little village well worth the trip. There is plenty to do on the island itself, but the museums over in Portsmouth/Gosport are pretty cool too. We did the Submarine Museum and it was quite interesting. Avoid bank holiday weekends as Mods on their hairdriers quickly desend on to the place and it quickly begins to look and sound like a Bee Hive. We still had a great weekend, just very little sleep. If you drive then this is a great place to come, even if you don't it is still accessible as the buses are quite well run. There is a small cafe buried in some backstreet of Ryde, which is a proper traditional British Cafe (Greasy Spoon) that serves some awesome breakfasts, get to Marymead Close on the East side of Ryde. Anyway Isle of Wight highly recommended.

Hi, Ok I realise that this might be a bit far away but it is well worth it! Have you ever been on the wigwam holiday site? look it up, there are brilliant wee places all over Scotland and England that have these adn they are the best holiday ideas for kids and adults. WE build campfires when we go, I must add that the ones up in Scotland are beautiful adn you can drive to Loch Lomond on the way up, where they do have beaches. I usually go with friends to the one between Tyndrum and Crainlarich. The staff at this one are excellent, we have been going for years. There are plenty of walks to do as well as beautiful scenery. There are cookhouses, so you can bring all of your own food, Showers and toilets which are excepetionally clean. I cant rave about this place enough. Search wigwam holidays for a better picture and you’ll fall in love with it too im sure. One of your friends actually proposed to his girlfriend up there!

Goodness! Sorry about the thunderstorms, you must have hit the only week it rained, we were there for two weeks and it was incredibly hot…so much so that I drove home to West Yorkshire on the Thursday night (towing a caravan) rather than attempt it in boiling temperatures on the Friday…

Anyway try the Camping and Caravan site..they have LOADS of places that you can go to…

Perhaps some where you can cry about what’s said to you? You sent just as abusive emails to me you know? Don’t worry after this I won’t bother you anymore, I don’t like picking on the weak and frail. Have a wonderful day Dirty Harry

The east coast is a forgotten part of the country. The beaches go out for miles and are very clean. Your little boy will love it, miles of soft sand to build his sandcastles.
Skegness is very family orientated, plenty to do including a fun fair. B&B will be reasonable beacause there are plenty to choose from. Or you could go self catering in a caravan.
If you fancy something quieter, try Sutton on Sea. Again loverly beaches but a much smaller and slower paced resort.
Mablethorpe, Ingoldmells are very busy and commercial.
To introduce your boy to the delights of the the beach I would recommend Skegness, and there is still plenty of things to entertain you.
