Sandown will be your best bet. It's a lovely sandy beach and if you travel to the Island from Portsmouth Harbour Station on the fastcat to Ryde, you can connect to a train that takes you to Sandown. The last stop is Shanklin, which also has a good beach. You can also connect with the train if you were to catch the hovercraft from Southsea seafront to Ryde. If, of course, you are going by car, more beaches become easily accessible, like Compton Bay. However, there are no facilities available like there are at the main beaches of Sandown & Shanklin.
