Hi I am currently on benefits and need to move to the Isle of wight, Anyone know any landlords who accept housing benefit? Or letting agencys? It would only be short term until I find work.

Very desperate for your help, thank you

  1. There are quite a few letting agents down here, but it is hit and miss as to whether the current properties they have available will be owned by landlords who accept housing benefit. Also the agent fees can be stupidly expensive - as if moving didn't cost enough without that! Personally I would recommend you try and look for private landlords as they tend to be more amenable plus you won't pay agent fees. Two websites which both have property sections (with mainly private landlords) are: http://www.wightbay.com http://www.iwcp.co.uk/ The first is a classified ad site for the Island and the second is the web page of our weekly newspaper. Other than that you could try www.rightmove.co.uk but these listings are all agent properties. It is probably worth giving agents a call though as they do have some properties with more amenable landlords. Although I would strongly advise avoiding HRD Lettings like the plague as they are really uptight and never seem to have any DSS friendly properties. A good one to try is More Lettings (www.moretolet.com) as I have found them very friendly and helpful in the past :o) I wish you the best of luck with your move, and I really hope you enjoy living down here :o)
