  1. Bournemouth is better for nightlife. The Isle of Wight has nice beaches but Bournemouth and Poole have better ones (miles of sand shelving gently into the sea). Of course, you could easily visit the Isle of Wight for the day from there.

Bournemouth beats the IOW hands down. Much more sophisticated. Also there are better beaches nearby which is handy as Bournemouth beach can get crowded. Branksome Chine and Durley Chine are sandy and a bit quieter.

I’m American and LOVE Bournemouth. The Isle of Wight is an island located in the English Channel. It’s nice but for me Bournemouth is the place. Check out this site to get an idea.

Neither…..they are both ‘old people’ areas.

You probably could afford go to abroad if you can afford a holiday in England.
Renting a hotel here for a week is around £500. I went to Zante in Greece for £450 (including flights).
And of course drinks are cheaper over there, so in the long run you will spend much less.

very expensive to cross over to the IOW, approx £16 – 20 per person on either the ferry or the Redjet. You need to take that into account if you do decide to go there.
