  1. The activity centres of Portsmouth hinge around Gunwharfe Quays (station = Portsmouth Harbour). Here there is a good cinema and the Spinnaker Tower. Nearby is the Historic Dockyard with HMS Victory and the Mary Rose. A ferry takes you across to Gosport. Fratton is central and not as expensive as Southsea. The residential streets can get crowded with traffic going to Southsea and also on football match days. Look a bit on the north edge of Portsmouth and you'll find Copnor. That is good, safe and reasonably priced. It also has a min line railway station. You could try looking in Gosport. The ferry across Portsmouth Harbour is every 5-10 minutes and costs £2.10 return. For flat rental look up www.yourmove.com and for local crime figures and other demographic information look up www.upmystreet.com.

There are a lot of good apartment like properties in between the ferry port and gunwarf quays. My grandparents use to live in one of them, but im not sure wether you can rent them, but they are very nice!
